I've been suffering from chronic acne since the young age of ten. I went through tons of different face washes, exfoliating brushes, acne pads, I even tried toothpaste, and at one point, walked around the house with nutmeg and honey on my face. Nothing worked! Then one of my family members/best friends suggested I tried sugar scrub. I'd heard about this stuff everywhere, and had a friend that sold it, but as a college student with no job, I couldn't afford it, so I did some digging on Pinterest and other websites and came across
this link on how to make your own sugar or salt scrub. Having extremely sensitive skin such as mine, I didn't think salt would be the way to go, plus I'd rather have my face smelling sweet rather than salty. ;) I went on a hunt around the house and found just what I needed to make my own sugar/baby oil scrub.

What You'll Need:
Sugar (I used regular white table sugar, I've heard brown sugar works just as well)
Any type of oil. (Baby oil, olive oil...etc.. I'm dying to try this with coconut oil!)
A container (Size depends on how much scrub you wanna make.)
Measuring cups if you're lame like me and can't eyeball measurements ;)
A spoon
Measure our your sugar and your oil. I used 1 cup of sugar to 1/2 cup of baby oil. Just remember to take your amount of sugar and divide it in half to get the amount of oil you need. I'm lame and just a little OCD so I have to use a measuring cup.

You can do this next step in any order you like, I prefer to put my sugar in first. Pour your sugar and your oil into any container, I use a regular tupperware container to mix mine and then spoon it into a baby food jar which I keep on my bathroom counter.
Now you should have this mixture that strangely resembles actual baby food... no kidding, my brother came in my room and asked me if I knew why there was a jar of baby food next to the sink. (Not to mention we have no babies in my house! heheh)
I started out using a half spoonful of my sugar scrub every 3 days just to see how my picky skin would react to it, but eventually picked it up to every other day. The granules of sugar feel AMAZING on my skin, and after rinsing my face and feeling the baby oil I have to refrain from touching my face with dirty hands. :)
Now I know you guys wanna see before and after pictures. I'm very camera shy so of course I had to dig on Facebook for pictures of myself. :P
Before: Christmas 2013 with my brother's girlfriend..
can't see too much but my acne scars are there
And after: June 2014 after maybe a week of using the scrub..
an awful picture, but the most recent one I have. :)
So, I'm living breathing proof that this stuff actually works! It's so much cheaper and lasts so much longer than regular face wash. Actually it's free if you already have this stuff in your house! ;)
